SALVATICO

Home Away in Vidiciatico

Guest House – Glamping Pod – Coworking Space
Climate & Silence Refuge

SALVATICO is a Guest House and Holiday Home located on a wooded property just above the village of Vidiciatico – 800 meters above sea level – in the Italian Apennines between Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, about 75 km southeast of the city of Bologna and 95 km northwest of the city of Florence.

This renovated 1960s Villa is ideally suited to groups and larger families. The Guest House maximum occupancy is up to eight Guests. Due to the layout of the property and the shared bathrooms, SALVATICO is designed to accommodate groups of friends, or families traveling together. Individuals and couples can also stay at SALVATICO, but they must be willing to share bathrooms and common areas. Read more about the Guest House Rules and check if SALVATICO is the right fit for your holidays.

Currently under construction in the grounds is a futuristic Glamping Dome for two Guests. Crafted by the start-up Dome Guru – Hypedome, its otherworldly, spaceship-like design utilises reflective and clear modules, allowing guests to sleep directly under the stars. This immersive camping experience is paired with sustainable off-grid facilities, including a modern composting eco-toilet and an outdoor solar shower.

You can find full details about the House, the Rooms and the Garden on The Guest House page.

“Questo posto è la fonte
Che ogni giorno mi fa vivere.
È qui che ho avuto per la prima volta
Fame e sete.”

This place is the source
That gives me life each day.
It is here that I first knew
Hunger and thirst.

Mino Petazzini, Salvatico (Bohumil Edizioni, 2013)

The house is currently under renovation but the work is nearing completion and only the last few works remain. In fact, the photos of the rooms and the property are not available just yet. The Host is also in the process of sorting out all the required paperwork with the aim of opening the House to Guests from May 16, 2026.

In the meantime, you can:

Read this important notice regarding Booking & Reservations procedure. The Host believes in a highly personal approach to hospitality and for this reason, the property is absent from standard booking portals, and an online calendar is not displayed. As it is a lived-in private Villa, reservations can only be made by contacting the Host directly by phone, whatsapp, instagram or email. A brief chat with Camilla, your Host, is an essential step to book your holiday. Knowing your preferred dates and the makeup of your party allows the Host to welcome you properly. Most importantly, it ensures that the specific atmosphere of SALVATICO matches exactly what you are looking for in a holiday.

SALVATICO is a project by:

Camilla De Leo

On Friday, 1st May 2026, SALVATICO hosted a traditional Bandìga. This old Emilia-Romagna dialect term refers to the celebratory feast that landowners used to throw for their workmen to mark the completion of a major project — such as the topping out of a new roof, where a flag (bandièra) would be hoisted — or the end of a bountiful harvest.

It is a celebration intended to herald a season of joy and prosperity, but above all, it is a heartfelt thank you to the artisans and firms — mostly from this very area — who have worked with such commitment and dedication for SALVATICO.

Without them, none of this would have been possible! So thanks to everyone who is putting their professionalism and dedication into making this dream a reality:
